Açaí is pronounced as Ah-sai-EE.

Açaí is a deep purple colored fruit that grows on palm trees and is native to the Amazon river basin. Açaí is a berry, just like the strawberry or blueberry and is known as a super fruit because of its extensive nutrition profile and nutrient composition which is rich in anti-oxidants.

Explore Superfoods is a consumer products company based in New York City and we import and sell premium açaí products. Unlike other berries, açaí is 90 percent seed and cannot be consumed in its whole form. It is sold as a puree, which must be frozen to preserve its nutrient composition. There are many different recipes in which the açaí berry puree could be consumed, such as smoothies, açaí bowls (awesome fruit salads), desserts, and cocktails. Check out some of the recipes here. Açaí is also used in other health products such as juices, powders, and oils. Some of you may have already observed açaí berry products in grocery stores and smoothie shops. Our goal is to promote açaí for it to attain higher recognition and for it to become an integral part of America’s diet.

With our society being more health conscious, we expect that the berry will soon be found in every kitchen. Currently açaí is primarily found in the juice bars, but we expect that people will enjoy açaí in all casual food service establishments one day.
